Different
taste of Martyr's League
“Some
teams won’t win, but they refuse
to
lose making
life difficult for the big clubs in the league”

Martyrs League have different taste this year due to the
concept of super six. 13 teams will play each other to
make total of 78 matches. Than super six team will play
with each other to make 15 matches.
The teams in European league play twice with each team. In
Martyrs league only super six will have opportunity to
play twice. But the teams in super six will carry the
point they get in the first round of league. So nobody
can guess who will be the league champion this year.
But it is certain that MMC, MPC, Three Star and Army will
enter super six. But it is difficult to guess which
other two team will join them. ANFA official Lalit
Krishna Shrestha says, “It is difficult to guess who
will enter super six with MMC, MPC, TSC and ARMY.”
Friends, NRT and Sankata have the good chance of making
to super six also.
MMC captain Kumar Thapa says, “It is difficult to say who
will win the title. Lets say if any team win all the
matches in first round but it can lose all the matches
in super six round. So very competitive.”
He is right. TSC, MPC and MMC have been toping the table in
this years ML one after another. But police and MMC have
lost valuable points. The smaller teams are now scaring
the big clubs who are desperate not to lose points.
Smaller teams won’t win the match, but they refuse to
lose, which makes it difficult for big clubs like MMC,
MPC, TSC, ARMY to overcome their challenge. Just look at
MPC they would have gone to the to of the table if they
had beaten JYC. But JYC held them and they lost valuable
2 point. Same with MMC,
they have lost points including 3 to relegation
favorites Kathmandu Club.
Teams like JYC, Kathmandu, Mahabir, BBC are capable of
upsetting the big clubs and it’s difficult to say who
will win the league. The big clubs match against the
minnows will make all the difference. TSC, despite their
draw with Sankata are a good bet to be crowned
champions. Just look at their bench. National team vice
captain Bal Gopal Maharjan, U19 midfielder Ramesh
Sinkemen, U19 striker Bal Gopal Sahukhala are all on
bench. They have the depth in squad to overcome the
challenge of a league style tournament.
This years league certainly has a different taste
and excitement than previous leagues.
