Age fiasco sees Palestine victorious
13 April 2003:
Nepal lost the first leg of its Olympic qualifying
series with Palestine 0 - 1. Nepal played a solid
match but a lack of firepower cost the home side the
game. Several Nepali players were ruled ineligible
right before the start of the match because they did
not have the documents to prove they were underage.
ANFA claims that the players were injured, but it is
widely accepted that those players may have been
overage. ANFA has long had a chronic problem with
trying to field overage players and it has led to
uncomfortable situations for Nepali team managers and
coaches.
