Executives call for reinstatement
20 August 2002:
Several leading ANFA Executives called for the reinstatement of Geeta Rana as ANFA President. They said in a press release that the sacking of Rana by the NSC was illegal under NSC's own statutes.

ANFA closer to reunification
16 August 2002:
On his arrival from the AFC Congress in Malaysia, Ganesh Thapa said that various ANFA factions are closer to unification following a meeting between him, Geeta Rana, and other senior Nepali sports officials. Thapa also conceded that Nepali football is behind most of its South Asian counterparts and that rapid development is urgently needed.

Stephen leads India to glory
15 August 2002:
Former Nepal coach Stephen Constantine led India's U23 team to an impressive victory over Vietnam to win the LG Cup in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Nepal elected to AFC Executive
14 August 2002:
Nepal won a seat on the AFC Executive Committee at the recently held AFC Congress in Malaysia.

Three ANFA presidents?
13 August 2002:
Several football associations from the eastern districts have condemned the sacking of Geeta Rana and say that they still back her. They stated that the sacking of Rana was unilateral move by the NSC and that the ANFA Executive Committee did not vote on the matter, therefore the sacking was not valid.  It now seems as though ANFA has split into three different factions.

Rana sacked! Sherpa new ANFA Prez
11 August 2002:
Geeta Rana has been sacked by the NSC and Karma Tschering Sherpa will replace her as the acting president of ANFA. The NSC said they made the change because ANFA executives were unhappy with Rana's "inability" to perform her duties as ANFA President. Rana also had failed to properly reply to the NSC regarding a statement she had released criticizing them a few months back for which she was given a six month probation by the NSC.

Birthday Cup in late August
11 August 2002:
ANFA will be holding the Birthday Cup starting August 24th at Dasharath Rangasala. The tournament will include the 12 first division clubs, regional sides and some international teams.

Nepalis struggle in Bangladesh
11 August 2002:
Both Brothers Union and Rahmatganj, which have three Nepali players each, are struggling in the Dhaka Premier League. Both teams only have one win each and only Hari Khadka of Brothers Union has been really able to make an impact. He has scored two goals - ironically both against Rahmatganj.

Girls lost, then found
11 August 2002:
Three girls representing an under 16 Nepal team participating in the Norway Cup went missing. ANFA later said that the girls were found and are on their way back to Nepal.
