MMC
win another tourny
31 December 2003: A
lone goal by Basanta Thapa helped MMC secure the Budda
Subba Gold Cup over arch rivals MPC.
Thapa
apologizes
23 December 2003: ANFA
President Ganesh Thapa apologized to the Nepal Sports
Journalist Forum for attacking one of their members.
Thapa cited that he was angry with the one sided story
against him and the lack of a chance for a rebuttal. The
ASJF accepted the apology and said they recognize the
importance of balance in reporting.

MMC
Triumph
16 December 2003: MMC
won the Martyr's Invitational Tournament 4 - 2 on
penalty kicks after the match against EverReady
Association of Kolkata ended 0 - 0 after regulation
time.
Correction:
On December 12 NepalSport.com
reported that Nepali clubs have opted out of the Asian
club competitions. Nepali clubs are actually still
eligible to participate in the Asian President's Cup,
whose draw has yet to be finalized. It is not known
whether MMC and/or MPC will participate in the
tournament.
Nepal
opts out of Asian competitions
12 December 2003: Nepal
will not enroll any football clubs in the Asian
club competitions. Nepali clubs would have been eligible
for the AFC Cup, a new competition for clubs from weaker
footballing nations. The AFC Champions League is now
reserved for the stronger Asian league teams. There was
talk that with their vast resources Martyr's League
champions Manang Marsyangdi would participate in
Asia, but it was not to be.
Malaysia
here we come!
05 December 2003: A
lackluster Nepali side was able to hold Bangladesh to an
1 - 1 draw and will move on to the Asian U20 finals in
Malaysia based on goal difference. Nepal's lone goal
came courtesy of a Bangladeshi player. This is the
second time Nepal has qualified for the Asian finals of
a national team competition. The last time being the
Under 16 side that made it to Vietnam three years ago.
U17s
out on goal difference
05 December 2003: India
defeated Afghanistan 4 - 0, thus halting Nepal's U17
march. India are through to the Asian finals due to a
better goal difference than Nepal.
Youth
reigns supreme
03 December 2003: Both
Nepal's youth teams won crucial games in their
qualifying tournaments. The U20s beat Pakistan 3 - 0,
while the U17s beat Afghanistan 2 - 0. Nepal now needs
to only draw with Bangladesh in the U20 tournament and
have India not defeat Afghanistan by more than two goals
in the U17 qualifying to advance in the respective
competitions.

U17s
draw against India
02 December 2003: India
and Nepal drew 1 - 1 in the first game of the Asian
Under 17 qualifying tournament in Calcutta.
Shishir Adhikari
scored the goal for Nepal. Both teams will finish their
qualifying schedule against Afghanistan, but India has a
clear advantage over Nepal as they play them last and
will know exactly what they must do to move on to the
final round.
