National League in 2003?
31 July 2002:
In an article in The Kathmandu Post, Ganesh Thapa hinted that his ANFA would start a Martyr's League style national league in 2003 once the Lalitpur football training facility is finished being built. He said that his ANFA was not able to organize a league tournament in recent months because the NSC would not give them access to the National Stadium. The article also stated that many Nepali players are playing football in the Siliguri League in North Eastern India and earning between 500 and 3,000 Rupees a match, because of a lack of a proper league in Nepal.

Nepali players in Bangladesh
24 July 2002:
Hari Khadka, Upendra Man Singh, Nirajan Rayamajhi, Bal Gopal Maharjan, Narayan Manandhar and Basanta Thapa are all currently playing club football in the Dhaka Premier League. They are all earning close to $2,000 a month.

Girls off to Norway
24 July 2002:
A group of under 16 girls will be traveling to Norway to participate in the Norway Cup. The team is being sent by ANFA - Rana, with the support of the Norwegian Embassy. The girls are being trained by senior football coach Milan Hadda. Unfortunately, this is a makeshift team that will dissolve after the tournament.

Dharan donates 2 million to ANFA
19 July 2002:
Dharan municipality will be donating two million of the estimated 12.5 million Rupees that it will take to build the new ANFA training facilities in their city. Dharan will also give a free 50 years lease for several ropanis of land to ANFA.

Three new academies to be built
16 July 2002:
The Ganesh Thapa ANFA announced that it was going to build three youth academies, one in Lalitpur, Butwal and Dharan, with the close to half-a-million dollars they will be receiving from the FIFA Goal Project.

FIFA supports Thapa; dispute to be resolved soon?
16 July 2002:
AFC Vice President Manilal Fernando, during his brief trip to Kathmandu, reiterated FIFA's support for the Ganesh Thapa led ANFA and said that the whole ANFA dispute would be resolved within the next few months. He did not however give any specifics as to how that would happen.

Players welfare fund to be set-up
16 July 2002:
Ganesh Thapa said that ANFA was setting-up a welfare fund for football players so that they will have more security in the future. The fund will initially start with five million Rupees and is to be doubled in a years time.

AFC representative to arrive this week
15 July 2002:
Bangladeshi newspapers report that AFC Vice-President Manilal Fernando will be coming to Nepal later this week. The Sri Lanka is the director for the FIFA Goal Project for the South Asian nations, so he will most likely be inspecting the Goal Project activities in Nepal. ANFA (Thapa) said that it was building three new football academies in various parts of Nepal with the Goal Project funds. It should be noted that Fernando is reportedly a staunch supporter of Ganesh Thapa and has devoutly backed him in the ongoing ANFA dispute.

Sports budget slashed
15 July 2002:
The Government has slashed sports funding drastically in the new national budget. The Nepal Sports Council says that it might consider taking out loans just to pay all its employees. The reduction in the sports budget will undoubtedly mean less funding for football activities which is already at the bare minimum.

Oberman to be honored by King
10 July 2002:
Former technical advisor and long time friend of Nepali football, Holger Oberman of Germany, will be one of three sportsmen bestowed the prestigious Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu award by His Majesty the King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev on the occasion of his 56th Birthday. Holger Oberman was in charge of Nepal's national team when it won the gold medal at the 6th SAF Games in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Nepal not participating in Asian Games football
7 July 2002:
The AFC has released the draw for the Asian Games football tournament to be held in Busan, Korea and Nepal was not included. Countries ranked lower than Nepal in the FIFA rankings including Pakistan are participating; therefore, it seems as though Nepal itself decided not to participate. What part the ANFA feud played in this decision is not known yet. The Asian Games comes under the jurisdiction of the Nepal Olympic Committee which supports Geeta Rana's ANFA, while the AFC is on the side of Ganesh Thapa's ANFA.

Birthday Cup to be organized
4 July 2002:
ANFA (Rana) is to organize the Birthday Cup football tournament in honor of King Gyanendra. The tournament will be held across the country with all first division clubs, departmental teams and some foreign clubs participating.

Nepal stand still in FIFA Rankings
4 July 2002:
Nepal remains at 156 in the July FIFA Ranking.
